Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Stride mobile application ("App") operated by Stride ("we," "our," or "us"). By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use Stride. If you are under 18, you must have parental or guardian consent. By using the App, you represent that you meet these requirements.
2. Account Registration
- You must create an account with a valid email address and password to use Stride's cloud features.
- You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
- You must choose a unique @username. Usernames are first-come, first-served and must not impersonate another person or entity.
- You may not create multiple accounts for the purpose of circumventing these Terms.
3. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the App for any illegal purpose or in violation of any applicable laws.
- Harass, abuse, or send unwanted nudges or messages to other users.
- Upload photos or content that is obscene, offensive, defamatory, or violates the rights of others.
- Attempt to access another user's account or data without authorization.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App.
- Use automated scripts, bots, or scrapers to access the App or its data.
- Interfere with or disrupt the App's servers, networks, or infrastructure.
4. Accountability Partners and Teams
- When you connect with an accountability partner, you consent to sharing your daily score, habits, tasks, and activity with that partner.
- Either party may disconnect a partnership at any time. Disconnecting removes shared visibility.
- Team members can see tasks and goals within shared team workspaces. Team admins may manage membership and assign tasks.
- You are responsible for the content you share with partners and team members.
5. User Content
- You retain ownership of all content you create in Stride (goals, habits, tasks, story entries, photos).
- By using the App, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to store, process, and display your content solely for the purpose of providing the App's functionality.
- We do not claim ownership of your content and will not use it for marketing or advertising without your explicit consent.
- You may delete your content at any time through the App. Deleted content is removed from our servers within 30 days.
6. Push Notifications
Stride may send push notifications for:
- Morning briefings and evening check-ins (configurable times)
- Habit reminders
- Partner events (nudges, congratulations, perfect day celebrations)
- Team task updates
You may opt out of push notifications at any time via Settings → Notifications in the App, or through your device's notification settings.
7. Intellectual Property
- The App, including its design, code, features, and branding, is owned by Stride and protected by intellectual property laws.
- The Stride name, logo, and associated marks are trademarks of Stride.
- You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works based on the App without our written permission.
8. Account Deletion
You may delete your account at any time via Settings → Data → Delete Account in the App. Upon deletion:
- All local data is cleared immediately from your device.
- All server-side data (goals, habits, partner connections, team memberships, story entries) is permanently deleted within 30 days.
- Your @username will become available for others to claim.
- Active partnerships and team memberships will be terminated.
9. Disclaimers
- Stride is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
- We do not guarantee that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.
- Stride is a productivity and accountability tool. We are not responsible for the achievement or non-achievement of your goals.
- We are not responsible for the actions or conduct of accountability partners or team members.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Stride and its developers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or personal injury.
11. Apple App Store Terms
If you downloaded Stride from the Apple App Store, the following additional terms apply:
- These Terms are between you and Stride, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the App or its content.
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the App.
- In the event of any failure to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple for a refund of the purchase price (if any). Apple has no other warranty obligation.
- Apple is not responsible for any claims relating to the App, including product liability claims, regulatory compliance, or intellectual property infringement.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and have the right to enforce them.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting updated Terms in the App and updating the "Effective date" above. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall be resolved in the courts of competent jurisdiction.
